Two weeks have passed since my last blog. I hope you are keeping up with the 2015 Reading Challenge! It always amazes me to see time move by so quickly. We are now at Week # 9. I am enjoying the Challenge; I hope you are too! Today I will update you on Week # 8 and Week # 9.
Week # 8: This category is “Read a Book that is Funny.” Here are some suggestions: Bridget Jone’s Diary by Helen Fielding: The Stench of Honouls by Jack Handey; A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson; and Let’s Pretend This Never Happened by Jenny Lawson. I have not read any of these books. If you have share with us your “take on the book.” Or share another funny book that you have read! Just go to comments and leave a message.
Week # 9: This category is “Read a Book by a Female Author.” This category is very easy, because there are so many female authors. Pick your favorite and read!! Here are a couple of suggestions: The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood; Frankenstein by Mary Shelby (I have not read this book; nor did I know it was written by a woman. I love learning new things every day.); Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn; and The Giver by Lois Lowry (I have read this book and loved it. The Giver leans more toward Young Adult readers, but I highly recommend it.)

Personal family news: I know that many of you know that my son Dwayne died eight years ago while on duty with the Fort Worth Police Department. Our family has gone through so much over the past eight years. Our love and support for each other has grown stronger than we could have ever imagined. Dwayne’s wife Karen has been a solid rock. She is a great Mom. She has become much more than a daughter-in-law to Carl and I that we think of her as our daughter. We have been blessed with her strength and love for the Freeto family.
This Saturday, March 7th, at 5:00 PM, Karen will marry an amazing guy. His name is Steve Rutherford. Steve is a police officer with the Flower Mound Police Department, has three children, and loves Karen, Jenna and Jordin so much. Steve and Karen asked Carl and I if we would officiate at their wedding. What an awesome joy that will be!! Our son Chuck and his family are in the wedding party as well as Steve’s children. This is going to be a blessed and joyful day for us all. Please keep Steve, Karen and their new family in your prayers as they adjust to a “new normal.”
Thank you for reading this week. I will be back next week with Week # 10 in the 2015 Reading Challenge. God’s blessings to you and yours.
Today do something that challenges you, Linda
